Hill ponders Addison's Oakwell future

Barnsley boss Keith Hill will decide in the next day or two whether or not to extend Miles Addison's loan deal – or let the player return to Derby County.

Addison's emergency one-month extension expires on Saturday – and with the Reds not having a match on that date then the 23-year-old has technically finished at Oakwell.

Even if Hill decides to keep Addison for longer he will not be able to play in Barnsley's next fixture, at home against his parent club Derby County on Tuesday night.

After struggling to get into the starting line-up in the early months of he season, Addison has featured regularly in the team during January, especially following the injury to Jacob Butterfield. He played against Doncaster, Swansea, Leicester and Millwall, but was booked in all of those games, meaning that he is just one more yellow card away from a one-match suspension.

With the arrival of new loan signings Michael Tonge and Korey Smith, Hill's midfield problems have eased somewhat.

Addison was switched into the back four during the second half of the defeat to Millwall last Saturday, and Hill may consider the player's versatility worth holding on to.
