Barnsley have refused to cash in on their 12-goal leading goalscorer Ricardo Vaz Te – but now run the risk of seeing him walk away for nothing at the end of the season.
With only a handful of days left in the January transfer window, the Reds have reportedly rebuffed offers from other Championship clubs and abroad for their 25-year-old Portuguese ace.
West Ham, Southampton and Leicester have been strongly linked with making bids for the player.
But Vaz Ye, who arrived as a free agent last summer and only penned a one-year deal, has so far declined to enter talks over a new deal.
Sky Sports are suggesting that Vaz Te is considering signing a pre-contract agreement over the weekend, with clubs in Spain and Germany also keen on acquiring his services for next season.
Yet the player has shown no signs of being unhappy at Oakwell.
