Barnsley Schools, along with those in Hull and Bradford, have achieved some of the worst GCSE results in the country, according to new league tables published today.

The authorities are claiming that the tables show for the first time the extent to which pupils from poorer backgrounds struggle to achieve good grades at secondary school.
