Snow gates to be installed on Woodhead Pass

  •

Work to install snow gates and advance warning signs on the A628 Woodhead Pass between South Yorkshire and Greater Manchester begins this week in a bid to ensure the safety of drivers on the Trans-Pennine route.

The gates, which will be operated manually by the police in conjunction with the Highways Agency, are to be sited to the west of the Dog and Partridge Inn near Flouch Roundabout and at Val’s Place roadside cafe to the east of the A6024.

The gates will be backed by mobile electronic signs to warn drivers the road is closed.
